![]() DR. JULIE E. VOSSJulie E. Voss, M.D., the founder of Cascade Dermatology & Surgicenter, is the director of Northwest Face’s Dermatology Department at Carillon Point in Kirkland and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Voss graduated summa cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara and completed both her medical degree and her dermatology residency at University of California, Irvine. A board-certified dermatologist specializing in dermatology and dermatologic surgery including state-of-the-art cosmetic surgical procedures, Dr. Voss is known for her ability to achieve remarkable, yet natural-looking results with her patients. Her group includes specialists in facial plastics, skin care, chemical peels, vein injection, FotoFacial, and liposuction. Many of her patients’ before and after pictures are available in the gallery section of this site. Dr. Voss says she chose dermatology as her field because, “it combines the creative and artistic aspects of skin surgery with the mental challenges of diagnostics. I consider myself to be a physician and an artist. Dermatology allows me to work with both my mind and my hands. It fits me like a second skin.” In addition to general dermatology, Dr. Voss’ specialties include advanced skin cancer surgery for melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma; laser and fractional resurfacing and aesthetic fillers such as Restylane, Radiesse, and Juvederm; fat transfer; sclerotherapy (vein treatment) and liposuction. She uses the true tumescent technique, allowing the liposuction to be done totally under local anesthetic. Eliminating the use of general anesthetics, which carry their own risks, makes the procedure much safer. Dr. Voss has been performing Tumescent Liposuction for the past 12 years. She performs the procedure at NorthWest Faces’ in-house operating suite, which carries the state’s highest certification. The Tumescent method is much gentler than traditional liposuction. Dr. Voss uses a small 1.5mm microcannula, a straw-like tube, and removes the same amount of fat as larger cannulas, but with very tiny incisions, much lighter bruising, and smoother results. “I can remove three liters of fat and the patient walks out of the procedure and can usually go back to work within a few days and start exercising in a week or less.” (See pictures of the procedure in the gallery.) Dr. Voss has an extensive reputation and is often called upon by the media. She has given many television, radio, magazine, and newspaper interviews, including Northwest Afternoon; KIRO-TV, Northwest Cable News, and KING-TV health segments; and the Seattle Times and the Post-Intelligencer. Dr. Voss is committed to this community and is actively involved volunteering to care for women with scars from domestic violence. Dr. Voss was named one of Seattle’s best doctors by Seattle Magazine in 2004. “I understand concerns about appearance and how it affects how we feel about ourselves as well as how those around us perceive us,” Dr. Voss says. “I truly enjoy helping others improve themselves. We live in a wonderful age of rapid scientific and technological advances; it is amazing what we can do to help people these days with little to no risk or healing time. Our patients tend to be highly educated people who do their research. They expect us to have the tools and knowledge to deliver the highest level of care and results, and at NorthWest Face we do.” Dr. Voss is married and has two children: a pre-teenage daughter and a young son. She enjoys gardening, swimming, and hiking. In her youth she was an All-American Swimmer.
