BAHA

We are pleased to announce that we now offer the BAHA procedure for the treatment of hearing loss. The BAHA is a hearing system that in select individuals can improve hearing to near-normal levels. The BAHA utilizes an osseointegrated implant to transmit sound directly to the inner ear and bypass the middle ear. Many patients who do not do well with traditional hearing aids have found success using the BAHA. Depending on the type of hearing loss present, a patient may an excellent candidate for the BAHA. A small titanium post is surgically implanted into the skull behind the ear- this ambulatory procedure takes approximately one hour. After several months of allowing the post to fully integrate, the patient then can start using the small receiver, which clips on to the post and transmits sound through the skull to the inner ear. The receiver is small and very discreet in appearance- many patients find that it can be concealed very easily within one’s hair. If you have any further questions regarding the BAHA, please feel free to contact me.

Have a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Nilesh Shah, MD.
