Can your convertible or sun roof increase your risk for skin cancer?
Posted in Dermatology on September 7, 2010
As the summer is coming to an end, convertible drivers and drivers with sun roofs are getting the most out of their cars by keeping their tops down or sun roofs open. I know I am! Many people probably forget that driving with the top down or sun roof open means greatly increasing their sun exposure. Unfortunately, we all know that sun exposure causes premature aging and increased risk for skin cancers. However, this does not mean you need to forego enjoying the whole reason you bought this car in the first place.
In order to safely enjoy your convertible or sun roof, everyone in the car should take measures to protect their skin. When driving with the top down or roof open, everyone in the car should take protective measures such as wearing a sun block of at least SPF 30 and applying topical antioxidants, both available at Northwest Face. Also, wearing sunglasses will protect your eyes and a hat or other head covering can protect your scalp and face. By taking these basic steps, you can enjoy the wind in your hair for the rest of the summer without worrying about sun exposure.
Enjoy the rest of the summer,
