Tanning Industry officially supplying “false and misleading” information

Tsk Tsk.
That those tanning salons are not telling the truth is not surprising, is it? A study was recently done were people called 300 tanning salons around the country posing as 16-year old fair-skinned girls. The salons were asked if there was any health risk (specifically, cancer risk) associated with tanning. 90% of salons said there were no health risk associated with indoor tanning. I'm gonna go "jump in the Lake" for a good cause- cancer research! As a dermatologist I have bemoaned the dearth of effective therapies for melanoma for many years. However, recently we have had some thrilling breakthroughs in melanoma treatment due to cancer research, but there is still far to go. As a physician I am excited about the future cures research can bring and want to do my part to help.
