Coffee vs. Skin Cancer
Posted in Dermatology on October 26, 2011
Caffeinated coffee consumption is associated with decreased the risk of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). That is big news since BCC is the most common cancer known to man!
A good study found that "women who drank more than three cups of coffee had a 20% reduction in risk for basal cell carcinoma." and "Men who drank more than three cups of coffee benefited from a 9% reduction in risk of this type of skin cancer". The more coffee people drank, the lower their risk for BCC was, so go have an espresso!
Other studies have shown caffeine to be of benefit topically as well: I can for see a Starbucks skin cream coming out in the future :)
