Hyperhidrosis = Excessive Sweating
Posted in Dermatology on July 21, 2011
As summer gets underway, an embarrassing problem plagues many people as the temperature rises. We all sweat - but some people sweat more than others. Sweating enables our bodies to regulate heat since, if our bodies could not regulate heat, we would die.
However, some people sweat in excess of what is needed to regulate heat. This medical condition is called hyperhidrosis.
Most of us use antiperspirant to control sweating and deodorant for odor, but for people with hyperhidrosis, this is often not enough. If you regularly experience discomfort in social or public settings because of excessive sweating or you simply are tired of it, please contact a dermatologist: they can diagnose this condition and develop a treatment plan. We have tools at our disposal, including over-the-counter and prescription medications, and even offer medical procedures depending on your unique case.
