The Lyric
Posted in Hearing on January 15, 2010
Recently Dr. Nilesh Shah introduced the BAHA device to help those of you with single sided deafness as well as conductive hearing losses.
Today I introduce another exciting new addition to our services. The Lyric.
It is a completely hidden, deep fitting amplification option which is worn 24 hours a day for up to 120 days. The benefits are not just cosmetic (with nothing seen from any angle); many will find a more natural sound with this system since the microphone is placed just a few millimeters in front of the eardrum, so the sound travels its normal path. Lyric has found that 95% prefer this system over their traditional amplification options. Others will appreciate that items can be placed in the ear such as a Bluetooth device or stethoscope without feedback, while still allowing the full benefit of the amplification. It is not for everyone--but those of you out there with a mild to moderate hearing loss that are just getting by, this may be your answer.
Dr. Shah and myself will be first and only clinic in Washington State providing the Lyric at this time. We are in training, and by mid to late February will be ready for all of you out there. Yes I learned of this because AARP and other news stations are already talking--which had patients calling to find out about it. Some of you may have seen this on the Dr. Oz show late October... if not I invite you to watch the link at: http://www.lyrichearing.com/lyric-hearing-aid-news-events/. It will also provide you with much of the information on this special new amplification option available so check it out!
As always I welcome your questions and will send out updates as we have them. Have a wonderful week.
