This week is our special two day event to introduce the InSound Medical device "WOW" to patients who are interested. There are still open slots on THURS March 25th for those who have not reserved their time!
This technology is meant for those who have avoided hearing aids due to sound quality and/or cosmetic reasons. Those with limited dexterity will enjoy the ease of listening without the daily upkeep of traditional hearing aids. The WOW sits deep in the ear canal and is left in place for up to 120 days. Patients do have volume control as well as ability to turn it to "sleep" or "off".
Dr. Nilesh Shah, ENT, and myself are combining expertise to ensure this semi-implanted device is appropriate for those who would like to try it. The ear anatomy appears to be the largest barrier, needing room to hold the entire device in place.
Why are we so excited by this technology? The satisfaction surveys collected from 25 different clinics in 2008-2009 have shown:
