Individualized Hormone Replacement Treatment (IHRT)

We understand that each individual is unique and that their needs are also unique to them. We offer a customized and individualized hormone replacement treatment (IHRT) program to our patients.

Hormones are chemical messengers. They are present throughout the body and are responsible for many body functions. The steroid (sex) hormones include the estrogens (estradiol, estriol and estrone), the androgens (testosterone and DHEA), progesterone and cortisol. These are made in glands and organs of the body from cholesterol, their chemical backbone. Both sexes need the same hormones, although in differing amounts.

They exist in harmony and are  delicately balanced with each other. When levels of each hormone are in the right proportions, body systems are stable. When balance is lost, hormone deficiencies and excesses can become toxic to the body, causing unwanted symptoms, disorders and disease.

What causes hormonal imbalance?

In men and women hormonal harmony and balance, the hallmark of a healthy body, is disrupted in many ways.

Unbalanced Lifestyle

Hormone balance is deeply connected to diet and nutrition, exercise and relaxation, stress and our life style. How these factors impact hormone levels, and adrenal balance in particular, is crucial. The adrenal glands make key hormones that not only mobilize stress and immune responses, but also build and maintain bone, muscle, sex drive and function and any age. When the adrenals get run down, we get run down.

Growing Older

As  we grow older our reproductive function also declines. Hormone levels fluctuate then decline, triggering hormone imbalances and Menopause and Andropause onset. An unhealthy lifestyle speeds hormonal decline.

How can I balance my hormomes?

A key to hormone balance is the knowledge that hormones work in tandem with a healthy mind and body.

  • First determine symptoms (menopause, andropause, adrenal stress, thyroid abnormalities)
  • Test your hormones to identify specific imbalances
  • Use only bio-identical hormones to replace the deficiencies
  • Use dosages that create normal, physiologic levels
  • Avoid chemicals that mimic estrogens - synthetic HRT, pesticides, pollutants

Eat well and counteract stress with regular exercise, prayer, meditation and yoga.

How can I balance my hormomes?

In order to keep the human body on a smooth and even level, hormones must be in synchrony with each other. As we grow, age and transition, it becomes more of a challange to maintain this delicate balance. When the balance falters, the dficiencies and excesses create unpleasant symptoms. Lifestyle changes such as failure to exercise can aggrevate the imbalances.
