Chemical Peels
Our office provides several different types of chemical peels. The purpose of a chemical peel is proven to be effective in treating dry skin, acne, liver or sun spots, diminishing fine facial wrinkles, decreasing pore size, and improving skin texture. Light peels are usually performed in a series of six to eight peels, each peel two or three weeks apart. This type of peel leaves the skin with a red glow that only lasts for a day or so.
Lactic Acid Peels
Our mildest peels. Lactic Acids are derived from sour milk, and are much milder on the skin versus other peels.This peel is perfect for the first time peeler or for hyper sensitive skin.
Beta Hydroxy Acid Peels
Often prescribed for patients who have oily skin or are acne prone. Beta Hydroxy acids are simple organic fruit acids found in nature or synthesized in a laboratory. Salicylic acid, a common beta hydroxyl acid, has been used for treating acne for decades. Beta hydroxyl acid is used to accelerate skin cell turnover and help clear pores. It can penetrate more deeply than alpha hydroxyl acids and is gentler.
Alpha-Hydroxy Acids
A group of naturally occurring acids which are derived from certain plants and fruits. The most commonly used form of alpha-hydroxy acids is glycolic acid, which comes from sugar cane. Alpha-hydroxy acids work by stimulating new growth of skin and collagen by decreasing the bond that holds dead skin cells on the surface. This allows dead cells to be removed gradually, leaving behind a layer of smoother and softer skin. The peel procedure takes about thirty minutes. Typically multiple peels are recommended at 2-3 week intervals to optimize the results. The highest strength is 70%; we generally start at 40%.
Vitalize Peel
A unique formulation of mild acids that provide a complete, consistent and safe peel with little or no “down time”, and predictable results for all skin types. This non-invasive peel creates a softer, smoother, younger-looking complexion. Expect to see: dramatic improvement in epidermal texture, age spots, freckles, and superficial pigmentation and enlarged pores becomes less visible.
