Botox Treatments at NW Face & Body

What is Botox?

Botox, scientifically known as Botulinum toxin, is a neurotoxic protein that can cause muscle paralysis. While this may sound ominous, it is anything but at the doses used within the cosmetic industry. When administered correctly under the direction of trained physician, Botox can help solve a wide range of issues ranging from cosmetic ones, to headache treatment and even as a solution to excessive sweating. In fact, Botox can even help with bladder issues.

How does work? What does Botox do?

You may have noticed wrinkle lines around the corners of your mouth, or your eyes, or on your forehead. Often times, these wrinkle lines are caused by a lifetime of muscles pulling at our skin. As mentioned above, Botox can cause slight paralysis of muscles. When administered correctly, such as we do here at NW Face & Body, precise amounts cause the muscles pulling at your skin to relax just enough to smooth your skin, but not too much to prevent you from smiling.

Is Botox poison? Is it safe?

It is estimated that over 6 million Botox treatments are performed each year. The Botox used in the cosmetic industry is carefully diluted to levels safe for human injections in laboratory settings. Furthermore, the Botox injectors here at NW Face & Body are expertly trained in injection sites and appropriate levels to obtain ideal results for patients. The most commonly-reported adverse reaction to Botox has been reported to be akin to an allergic reaction.

Who is a good candidate for Botox?

Males and females of all ages can benefit from Botox injections, however pregnant and breastfeeding women should not receive Botox injections.

Will my face appear frozen after Botox injections?

No. While you may have heard stories about “frozen faces” from Botox in the news, rest assured this is not a concern seen here at NW Face & Body. Our injectors are experts in Botox injections and, after thousands of happy patients, have not had any reports of undesired effects.

How much is Botox?

Botox is administered by the unit. The exact cost of your Botox treatment will depend on how many units you require. Please feel free to schedule a consultation at NW Face & Medical to discuss your individual needs.

How long does it take for Botox to work?

In most patients, the initial results from Botox injections are seen after a period of one to three days, reaching their peak in about fourteen days.

How long does Botox last?

Your Botox treatment can last as long as six months, though it is unrealistic to expect permanent results. Botox works by relaxing the muscles causing wrinkles, but does not eliminate wrinkles completely. Over time, our bodies break down Botox injections and our muscles begin to work in the same manner as before. But fortunately, you can have repeated Botox injections to keep yourself looking your best!

Can Botox help with excessive sweating?

Yes! Botox has been shown to fix hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, when use of traditional topical treatments have not shown positive results.

Can Botox help with headaches?

Yes! In 2010, the FDA approved Botox as a prophylactic treatment of chronic migraines.
