What Is Acne Scar Vitalizer?

The Acne Scar Vitalizer Kirkland is Dr. Young’s innovative and multilayered approach to treating deep acne scarring. Because acne can reach the deeper layers of tissue, causing things like box scars or ice pick scarring, traditional treatments don’t resurface the necessary layer of tissue required to get rid of them. The Acne Scar Vitalizer combines traditional and advanced methods to shock the deep layer of tissue that holds the scars and causes it to reconstruct itself.

Why Do Deep Acne Scars Develop?

To understand the in-depth acne scar treatment that Dr. Young provides, we must first understand the nature of acne scars. The acne infection process usually starts with the hair follicle, which extends deeper into the skin than most acne scar treatments can reach. However, they can show up in different forms of scarring, such as:

  • Ice Pick Scars: Ice pick scars are small, slender scars that appear as though they have been chiseled into the skin with an ice pick. They commonly occur around the cheeks and are caused by recurring cystic acne or infected pimples.
  • Boxcar Scars: Boxcar scars are wider with a boxlike appearance and deep grooves on the sides. They are commonly found in areas where the skin is thick and are caused by a large amount of acne in one area.
  • Rolling Scars: Rolling scars appear as rolling, uneven texture on the skin’s surface. They are uneven and give the area a bumpy appearance. Rolling scars are caused by excess collagen production where the acne once was.

Significant acne scars are formed in the deep layers of skin and are often hard to treat with one method alone. This is why Dr. Young created the Acne Scar Vitalizer: to reach the deep tissue layers and provide actual restructuring for scarless skin.

How Does Acne Skin Vitalizer Work?

The Acne Scar Vitalizer Bellevue is Dr. Young’s ingenious approach to treating deep scarring. Having worked in scar revision for decades, Dr. Young noticed that standard treatments for scarring, like laser resurfacing, were not as effective for patients with deep acne scars. He realized this was due to where the origin of the scar tissue began.

Acne begins with the hair follicle, which reaches into the dermis and subcutaneous layers of fat, meaning acne scarring can go much deeper than you think. Because the scars are held in the deep layers of skin, one treatment type doesn’t reach the layers necessary to resurface deep acne scarring. Dr. Young began to develop a process that involves personalized treatment steps to restructure the deepest layers of tissue and provide smooth, stunning skin.

The Acne Scar Vitalizer is a treatment that has never been seen elsewhere. It uses more invasive techniques to reach the deeper levels, a laser to resurface the skin and the patient’s own tissue to create real change. A simple breakdown of the Acne Scar Vitalizer includes:

  • Erasing scars through deep tissue treatment
  • Using a tissue to reconstruct scarring
  • Lasering at the end of treatment
  • Involves 7-15 steps of scar transformation
  • Combined with additional treatments if necessary
  • Takes 2-3 hours for the entire treatment process

Additional Treatments Provided

Along with the Acne Scar Vitalizer, Dr. Young may use additional treatments to provide the best results. These additional treatments are listed below and can be combined with the Acne Scar Vitalizer for optimal results.

Acne Scar Excision

Excisional acne treatment is only used when the acne scars are at a deep, depressed level and need to be lifted or removed. There are a few ways that Dr. Young can begin the excision part of your Acne Scar Vitalizer Bellevue & Kirkland treatment. The type of scar excision used depends on the kind of acne scars you are dealing with. The excision process can include:

  • Standard Excision: Standard excision is used on ice-pick scars to remove the deep layer of scarring and tightly close up the skin.
  • Subcision & Elevation: Used to elevate depressed scarring and eliminate deep ice-pick scars. This helps the scars heal at the same level. This method is used when the depressed area is larger than the ice-pick scar.
  • Raised Subcision: Dr. Philip may use a raised subcision to help depressed scars move toward the surface. He uses a cannula to create extra scar tissue underneath the depressed scarring, elevating them to the surface.
  • Geometric Line Closure: Geometric line closure uses a suture pattern that camouflages the scar. The human eye picks up on lines greater than 0.7cm, but anything below that is unnoticeable. The incision sites are well-hidden using a geometric pattern of less than 0.7cm.

Resurfacing Treatment

The second portion of the Acne Scar Vitalizer uses in-depth surface treatments to provide a new layer of skin to heal the scars. The resurfacing is integral to Acne Scar Vitalizer, as it can retexturize the skin and promote scar fading. Depending on your acne scarring, Dr. Young will use one or a combination of techniques. These techniques include:

  • Laser Resurfacing
  • Chemical Peeling
  • Jessner’s At-Home Chemical Peel
  • TCA Cross Method For Chemical Reconstruction
  • Dermabrasion
  • Dermasanding

These resurfacing techniques work to retexture the skin, and each of them works for a different gravity of acne scarring. During a consultation, Dr. Young will determine which resurfacing treatment or combination is best for your acne scar patterns.

Volumizing

For specific acne scar patterns, there are volumizing techniques Dr. Young can implement to help fill in and smooth out deep depressions. This part of the Acne Scar Vitalizer can include techniques such as:

  • Fat Grafting: Fat grafting adds volume underneath depressed scars and can fill out the indentations and provide a smooth complexion
  • Facial Fillers: Facial fillers can also help smooth scarring and indentation and provide a sleek texture on the skin’s surface.

Acne Scar Vitalizer Process

During a consultation, Dr. Young will find the proper steps for your Acne Scar Vitalizer process. Every patient is unique and benefits from specific techniques over others. However, each patient can benefit from a combination of the in-depth, multilayered approach Dr. Philis has created.

Recovery

Recovery from the Acne Scar Vitalizer lasts around two weeks for the initial healing to complete. After that, it can take six months before you fully recover. However, most swelling and bruising will occur during the first week, but the redness may last longer. You can begin wearing makeup after a week of recovery.
